Nestled in a small sheltered valley through which meanders the Belubula River is the historic village of Carcoar, gazetted in 1839, the third oldest settlement west of the Blue Mountains.
Carcoar, classified by the National Trust, has a picture book quality reminiscent of old England and the best way to appreciate its treasures is to take a walk through the village.
Residents have lovingly restored and preserved many of the buildings. Stroll around the tree lined streets and view magnificent churches, public buildings and historic homes. Visit the railway station for a bird's eye view of the village.Have a relaxing picnic or barbeque on the banks of the Belubula River. Museums, pottery, antique and giftware shops, gallery, cafes, B & B's and hotel accommodation all combine to make the village a popular tourist destination.
Carcoar, situated on the Mid Western Highway, is a three and a half hours from Sydney and a leisurely 40 minute drive from either Bathurst, Orange or Cowra
Come and stay a while Carcoar is one of Australia's historic gems.
Carcoar has four distinct seasons, crisp cold Winters bursting into glorious Spring blossoms, pleasantly warm Summer days and colourful Autumn hues.
