The following is from the DVD Cover Notes by
John Martyn Young
Theatre Consultant

"Join us on a contemporary film tour of the historic village of Carcoar. Founded in 1839, Carcoar is still one of the most colourful gems of colonial NSW.

This DVD was conceived by versatile Carcoar & District Historical Society member and local potter, Louise Purcell. She has thoroughly researched this account of the fascinating history of Carcoar, Now and Then.

Her narration and images introduce you to the streets, buildings, activities, lifestyles and attractions of the people of Carcoar as they live here today and how the vibrant and exciting past is always with us.

This DVD is made up from new movie footage and hundreds of stills taken by Louise, as well as from many vintage snapshots and more formal photographs, some dating back to the 1860s, from private collections as well as from the archives of the Carcoar and District Historical Society to which Louise had access.

This new enterprise is a follow-on to the very successful theatre production of "The Carcoar Chronicles" presented by the Historical Society in 2008 to raise funds for the restoration of historic Carcoar Court House... A subsequent  DVD movie of the play was filmed and edited by Louise...

As a relative newcomer to the district, it has given me great pleasure to have been involved in the creation of the production of "The Carcoar Chronicles" as well as other activities organised by the Historical Society ...  our thanks go to all  participants in the Society's endeavours, including those who have assisted in the supply and loan of photos and historical information that made the Carcoar Now & Then DVD possible."
