Carcoar has a number of active community groups that run major projects in the town. Most meetings are held at the School of Arts.

Carcoar School of Arts

The Carcoar School of Arts was built in 1901 and is a centre for many village activities. Capable of seating about 120 people, it is popular for wedding receptions, meetings and concerts.For bookings, ring 6367 3054.

Historical Society
Carcoar & District Historical Society was founded in 1966 and incorporated in 1989 It operates Stoke Stable Museum and historic Carcoar Court House; conducts guided tours by appointment and provides free 'walking tour' maps to the public; local history enquiries welcome. Show Society
The Carcoar Show is held on the last Saturday in October each year at the Carcoar Showground. For enquiries ring 6367 5118.

Village Association
The Village Association is the umbrella body for community organisations in the town. Its major activity is the annual Australia Day Fair. It also communicates with local government regarding the needs of the town. For enquiries ring 6367 3173.

Shalom
This Retreat Centre next to the Catholic Church on Collins St is housed in the former Mercy Convent. It is ideal for private retreats or church groups and can accommodate up to 50 guests. All meals are catered for but self catering is also an option. On occasion it can be made available for passing travellers if all other accommodation in the village is full.
