Carcoar has a number of active community groups that run major events and projects in the village.  

School of Arts Hall Committee

The Carcoar School of Arts was built in 1901 and is a centre for many village activities. Capable of seating about 120 people, it is popular for wedding receptions, meetings and concerts. Carcoar Village Association Inc.



The Village Association is the umbrella body for community organisations in the town. Its major activity is the annual Australia Day Fair.  The Association was formed to promote tourism and communicate with local government regarding the needs of the town. Historical Society

Carcoar & District Historical Society Inc. was founded in 1966 and incorporated in 1989. It operates Stoke Stable Museum and historic Carcoar Court House. Conducts guided tours by appointment and provides free 'walking tour' maps to the public. For more information or to book a tour telephone 6367 4155

Fee structure $10.00 per enquiry (includes research, up to 3 pages of information either by email or post and photos if available) For larger research enquires fee $20.00. Shalom



This Retreat Centre next to the Catholic Church on Collins St is housed in the former Mercy Convent. It is ideal for private retreats or church groups and can accommodate up to 50 guests. All meals are catered for but self catering is also an option. On occasion it can be made available for passing travellers if all other accommodation in the village is full. Uralba Aged Care Hostel


This small retirement complex is situated in Eulamore Street, opposite the picturesque Carcoar Show Ground and overlooking the Belubula River valley.  Uralba owns the old Carcoar Hospital, one of Carcoar's distinctive heritage buildings and situated in the same grounds. The hospital, the second oldest west of the Blue Mountains, is currently being renovated and developed as the Carcoar Hospital Museum.

Uralba Retirement Village is operated as a community organisation with a Board of Management elected annually. It provides a popular, well patronised and much needed service to Carcoar and district in the provision of aged care accommodation
