With its wealth of architectural heritage on open display for all to see, the streetscapes of Carcoar are, in the words of the Australian historian Peter Spearitt, "an open air museum".

However Carcoar also has a number of interesting indoor museums and displays to augment this already rich heritage experience which the town gives to the visitor.

Whether it be the wartime memorabilia of the Carmanhurst Room, the fascinating history of bushranging at the Court House, the early pioneering history of the district in the old Stoke Stables, or the quirky and surprising pop cultural history of the Twentieth Century Toy Museum, there is something to interest all tastes and ages in Carcoar.
