When Thomas Mitchell first surveyed the area in the early 1800s, he commented on the Three Peaks - Mount Panorama near Bathurst, Mount Canobolas near Orange, and Mount Macquarie which is a short distance to the south east of Carcoar. A
drive from Carcoar across "The Mount" gives wonderful views
in all directions.
Situated
about 1km from the Mid Western Highway half way between Carcoar and Blayney,
Carcoar Dam provides irrigation water for farming and mining further south.
It is an ideal recreation area, popular with anglers and lovers of water
sports. Good camping facilities are available.
Built to supply power for the Country Energy grid, this collection of fifteen wind-driven turbines is visable from many points near Carcoar. For closer inspection, drive across the causeway of the Carcoar Dam. . |
